Chadron comes back to defeat Mavericks
Chadron State (Neb.) College scored two touchdowns in the fourth quarter to come back and defeat Colorado Mesa 41-30 in the Mavericks home opener at Stocker Stadium.
Colorado Mesa (0-3, 0-1 RMAC) rallied from two touchdowns behind twice to take a 30-28 lead early in the fourth quarter, but Chadron (3-1, 1-0 RMAC) responded with two touchdowns.
Chadron quarterback Jonn McLain completed 30 of 40 passes for 324 yards and four touchdowns, including a 54-yard score with 5:37 left in the fourth quarter to seal the Eagles’ victory.
CMU quarterback Deke Cisco completed 6 of 14 passes for 109 yards and one touchdown and ran for a score.
The Mavericks go back on the road next week at Black Hills State (S.D.) University.
