Chance for rain remains in GJ forecast

An early-season monsoonal weather pattern remains in place over the Grand Valley, meaning there’s a chance again today that heavy rain could fall.

The National Weather Service in Grand Junction is calling for a 30 percent chance of rain today and tonight, with today’s high reaching 89 degrees. A chance of rain remains in the forecast through Wednesday.

The monsoon, which arrived in western Colorado about three weeks earlier than normal, has brought higher humidity levels and moisture from the Gulf of Mexico. A total of 1.2 inches of rain has fallen this month in Grand Junction, 0.87 inches above normal. For the year, the city has received 5.24 inches of precipitation, 0.56 inches above normal.
