Children’s center sets horse-painting event

The Western Slope Center for Children, in partnership with Inside Lead Counseling, will be hosting a free gathering and horse-painting opportunity this Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the center’s headquarters at 259 Grand Ave. in Grand Junction.

Called “Helping Hands, Hearts and Hooves,” the event will allow participants to place painted handprints on live horses. There will also be a craft table for decorating horseshoes and games for kids.

The event is both a means for getting people acquainted with the Western Slope Center for Children, and a fundraiser for the center. Donations and sponsorships are welcome.

The Western Slope Center for Children provides collaborative services to child sexual abuse victims and their families.

Inside Lead Counseling provides equine therapy and counseling to children and adults who may be dealing with a variety of issues.
