City water line break closes East Middle School
Classes were canceled today at East Middle School after a city of Grand Junction water line ruptured for the second time in three days.
DIstrict 51 spokeswoman Christy McGee said staff arriving around 6 a.m. at the school found water on the cafeteria floor and numerous classrooms. A damage estimate wasn’t immediately known, but classes were expected to resume Monday following a clean-up effort.
The same city-operated water line ruptured and leaked on a smaller scale in the school’s cafeteria on Wednesday, interfering with lunch delivery, McGee said.
“We ended up ordering pizza,” she said.
