Clifton teen suspected in sex assault of girl, 13
A Clifton man was arrested Monday on charges stemming from an alleged consensual sexual encounter with a 13-year-old girl last month.
Tyler Jacob Almond, 18, 424 32 Road, Unit 410, was expected to walk out of the Mesa County Jail on Tuesday after posting a $100,000 personal-recognizance bond, one day after his arrest on a Mesa County Sheriff’s Department warrant on suspicion of sexual assault on a child younger than 15.
Almond became the focus of an investigation Nov. 7 after the Mesa County Department of Human Services received a referral about a girl who reported she had been sexually assaulted by Almond in her bedroom. She said she didn’t stop it because she didn’t want to wake her parents.
Initially denying the assault, Almond failed a polygraph exam administered by investigators before eventually admitting to the incident, the affidavit. He said he stopped the assault when he realized what he was doing was wrong.
Among several conditions of posting bond, Almond is restrained from having contact with any children 18 years or younger.
