Clifton woman suspected in theft from mall store

A 29-year-old Clifton woman is suspected of stealing several thousands of dollars worth of merchandise from at least one Mesa Mall store, and Grand Junction police were trying to determine just how much was stolen.

Shannon Leigh Cain, 3314 S. Highland Drive, was arrested Saturday night on suspicion of theft of between $1,000 and $20,000, Grand Junction Police Dept. Sgt. Kevin Imbriaco said.

According to Imbriaco, Cain had $2,450 worth of unpaid merchandise from J.C. Penney at Mesa Mall, 2424 U.S. Highway 6&50.

Imbriaco said he could not elaborate on what was taken because police were investigating whether Cain was connected to a possible theft from one other store.
