CMU advances to regional semifinals

Despite 27 turnovers and their leading scorer held under double figures for the first time all season, the Colorado Mesa women’s basketball team advanced to the semifinals of the South Central Region tournament today with a 60-49 victory over Midwestern State.

Aubry Boehme scored 19 points before fouling out and Taylor Rock had 13 points, two steals and three blocked shots in the victory. Sharaya Selsor was scoreless in the first half but finished with nine points, two steals and two assists.

The Mavericks shot 52.4 percent from the field and allowed the Mustangs to shoot only 29.4 percent, but Midwestern scored 29 points off turnovers to stay in the game.

Colorado Mesa (29-1) plays Tarleton State at 4 p.m. (MDT) Saturday in the semifinals.
