CMU heads to national tourney

Colorado Mesa University’s women’s basketball team claimed its first regional championship tonight with a 69-65 victory over Midwestern State University.

Kelsey Sigl scored 24 points and Bruna Deichmann a career-high 21 for the Mavericks, 31-1, who will play in the NCAA Division II Elite Eight March 26-29 in San Antonio, Texas.

Katrina Selsor, who had 12 points, made the all-tournament team, with Sigl selected the tournament’s MVP.
