CMU women ranked No. 2 in nation

Colorado Mesa’s women’s basketball team vaulted to No. 2 in the nation today in the USA Today/WBCA NCAA Division II national rankings.

The Mavericks (17-0, 13-0 RMAC) are one of only two undefeated teams in Division II women’s basketball, along with top-ranked Bentley (Mass.), which is 18-0. The No. 2 ranking is the highest in program history — Mesa was No. 4 last week.

Emporia State (Kan.) and Nova Southeastern (Fla.) both lost last week, dropping them from Nos. 2 and 3 to Nos. 3 and 5, respectively. Gannon (Pa.) is No. 3. The Mavericks play host to Colorado School of Mines at 5:30 p.m. on Friday and Colorado Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday.
