CMU’s Bingaman in third after Day 1 of golf tourney

Colorado Mesa University’s Brandon Bingaman shot a 36-hole 139, tied for third and six strokes off the lead, at the Golfweek Fall Invitational Division II men’s golf tournament Monday.

Meanwhile, Colorado Mesa is seventh in the tightly packed, 13-team field, 10 strokes behind leader California State University-Stanislaus going into today’s final round at the Sunriver Resort-Crosswater Club in Sunriver, Ore.

Sean Robbins is tied for 11th at 145 strokes for the Mavericks, while Christopher Aiken is tied for 49th (153 strokes), Matt Weiss is tied for 52nd (155), and Kyle Roll is tied for 60th (157).

Bingaman shot rounds of 71 and 68, while Robbins followed a 75 with a 70.
