College defends gender question on applications

COLORADO SPRINGS — Colorado College is defending a question on job applications asking about gender that is considered by some people to be a slur.

An optional question lists five choices, including male, female, transgender, no answer and a fifth question asking if they are “queer.”

The Denver Post reports Colorado College officials believe they have nothing to apologize for.

College officials say using the term on job applications is intended to represent the college’s acknowledgment of diversity.
