Colo. governor asked to explain secession policies
CRAIG — Moffat County residents want Gov. John Hickenlooper to address concerns that constituents in rural Colorado have about the state’s political climate leading up to the November election, when Moffat County residents will vote on potentially seceding from Colorado.
A spokesman for the governor tells Steamboat Today the governor is considering the request.
Moffat County residents have mixed feelings about the issue. Some think it’s an essential move toward starting a conversation with densely populated portions of Colorado about favoritism, while others think it will cause more discord.
The issue has embroiled leaders from a number of counties in northern Colorado, who say concerns over gun rights, oil and gas drilling, and water rights are not being addressed.
