Colo. spent more than $34,000 on Gessler defense
DENVER — The state of Colorado has paid more than $34,000 to private law firms to defend Secretary of State Scott Gessler against an ethics complaint that he misused public funds.
The three lawyers from separate firms representing Gessler charge $570 an hour and there are additional expenses for assistance.
According to the Fort Collins Coloradoan, Gessler’s office believes the investigation of complaints he misspent state funds on political activities are unjustified.
