Colorado finalist for Race to the Top dollars

Colorado has once again been named a finalist for Race to the Top education funding.

The federal government launched Race to the Top as a competition among states to see who was the most committed to education reform. Finalists were chosen based on applications stating what each state was doing and would do to change education.

Tennessee and Delaware were the sole winners in the first round of the Race to the Top challenge. The second round is the final chance states have to receive money for education.

Colorado was among 15 state and Washington, D.C., to qualify as finalists in the first round. The state is among 19 finalists in the second round, according to the Colorado Department of Education.
