Colorado lawmakers celebrate patent office announcement

DENVER — Colorado lawmakers are celebrating word that Denver will get one of three new satellite patent offices.

The official announcement is expected Monday and Gov. John Hickenlooper, Sen. Michael Bennet and Denver area elected officials plan to gather at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus for the occasion.

The Denver Post reported Sunday that Denver would get a satellite office along with Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas, and San Jose, Calif.

Bennet says the office is expected to directly create hundreds of jobs and lead to $440 million in economic activity over the first five years.
