Colorado Mesa rallies for another regional victory

Colorado Mesa rallied from an early deficit to defeat St. Edward’s (Texas) 12-8 in the NCAA Division II South Central Region baseball tournament at Suplizio Field.

The Mavericks scored six runs in the sixth inning to take a 9-6 lead. Austin Wallingford hit a bases-clearing three-run double to tie the game.

Austin Kaiser was 3 for 6 with two triples and two RBI. Sergio Valenzuela was 3 for 4 with two RBI.

Dakota Behr (1-2) didn’t allow a run or hit in 2 1/3 innings in relief for the victory. Matt Allen allowed six runs (five earned) on eight hits in 4 2/3 innings. Ryan Reno got the last out for his first save,

Mesa (42-10) plays at noon Saturday.
