Colorado Mesa splits baseball doubleheader

Colorado Mesa rallied to force extra innings then win to earn a split against Grand Canyon (Ariz.) University on Saturday in Phoenix.

The Mavericks (2-1) scored two runs in the seventh inning to go extra innings then scored two more in the ninth to win the second game 4-2. Grand Canyon won the first game 4-2.

Mesa reliever Tim Moore pitched 3 2/3 innings in relief for the victory in the second game.

The Mavs were limited to two runs on seven hits in the first game. Jared Christensen took the loss. He allowed three runs on six hits in five innings.
