Colorado Mesa to host NCAA regional

Colorado Mesa received the No. 1 seed and will host the NCAA Division II South Central Region tournament this weekend.

The Mavericks (40-10) will host six seed New Mexico Highlands at 7 p.m. Thursday at Suplizio Field.

West Texas A&M received the No. 2 seed, Texas A&M-Kingsville is the three seed, St. Edward’s (Texas) is the four seed and Tarleton State (Texas) is the five seed.

The regional tournament concludes next Sunday with the winner advancing to the NCAA Division II World Series May 24-31 in Cary, N.C.

This is the third time the Mavericks have hosted an NCAA regional tournament. They hosted it in 2005 and 2009 and won it in 2009 to advance to the NCAA Division II World Series.
