Colorado Springs renters face utility cutoffs

COLORADO SPRINGS — Hundreds of people in a Colorado Springs apartment building have been warned their utilities could be cut off because their landlord has not paid the bills.

Layla Chapman is one of more than 300 families living at the Pine Creek Village Apartments on the southeast side of Colorado Springs. She says she paid the utility bills to the landlord.

Apartment managers have not commented on the proposed cutoffs.

According to KKTV-TV, if the apartment owner doesn’t come to an agreement with Colorado Springs Utilities in the next 30 days, utilities at the apartment complex will be shut off. The building will then be condemned because it would be unsuitable to live in and everyone will be forced to leave.
