Convicted sex offender accused of sex acts with juvenile

A convicted sex offender from Grand Junction has been arrested on suspicion of engaging in sexual acts with a juvenile, Palisade police announced this morning.

An office who was on patrol around 4 p.m. Tuesday received information about indecent acts occurring in Riverbend Park. The officer found 20-year-old Kelsey James Kolenut inside a vehicle at the park with a juvenile. Kolenut was arrested on suspicion of sexual assault on a child, Police Chief Tony Erickson said.

The juvenile was taken to the Western Slope Center for Children, Erickson said.
