Coroner identifies Fruita man killed in I-70 rollover

Fortunato Diaz-Alejandro, 34, died as a result of multiple blunt-force injuries during a rollover crash on Interstate 70 Saturday night, the Mesa County Coroner’s Office said this morning.

The Fruita resident had a blood-alcohol level of .216 percent, nearly three times Colorado’s legal threshold for driving under the influence.

Diaz-Alejandro was ejected from his truck and was not wearing his seatbelt during the crash, which happened around 10 p.m. Saturday at milepost 34.
