Coroner ID’s man slain in New Year’s shooting
Randy Cook, 47, of Grand Junction, died of a single gunshot wound to the chest in the predawn hours of Jan. 1 at a home on Orchard Mesa, the Mesa County Coroner’s Office said today.
The death has been ruled homicide.
The Mesa County Sheriff’s Office said they were called around 12:15 a.m. on a report of a man shot at a home in the 2800 block of C Road.
Nobody has been arrested. The sheriff’s office has said multiple people who were at the scene have already been questioned.
Court documents associated with the case were sealed by court order.
A Grand Valley native, Cook, who was a Realtor at Hill & Homes in Grand Junction, was the subject of dozens of tributes Wednesday and today via Facebook praising him as a nurturing father, son, brother and friend.
