Coroner investigating death on railroad tracks

The Mesa County Coroner’s Office is investigating the death of a man’s found near the railroad tracks near 4th Street and South Avenue early Tuesday morning.

The body was reported at 7:41 a.m., according to department spokeswoman Heidi Davidson.

Mesa County Deputy Coroner Victor Yahn said it appears the man’s death was of natural causes, but his office is conducting an autopsy later today.

Yahn said the tracks where the man was found are not in use.

The man’s identity and age have yet to be released. Yahn said a news release with more information will be issued later today.
