Coroner: Train death in Clifton accidental

The death of a Clifton man who was hit by a train Wednesday night appears accidental, the Mesa County Coroner’s Office said today.

Travis Lunde, 34, suffered multiple injuries after being struck by an oncoming freight train just east of 33 Road and the railroad tracks around 9:15 p.m.

Toxicology results won’t be known for three to four weeks, the coroner said.

The Mesa County Sheriff’s Department is heading up an investigation.
