County jobless rate slides to 8.1 percent
The local jobless rate ticked down again in February, according to state employment data released today, and did so despite the local labor force growing by a small percentage over last month.
The jobless rate in Mesa County stood at 8.1 percent in February, the most recent data available, down two-tenths of a percent from the 8.3 percent recorded in January.
As for the number of people in the local labor force, it ticked up slightly during February, reaching 76,629 — a boost from January’s number of 75,907.
Statewide, the jobless rate was 6.7 percent, which matched the national unemployment number.
