County sets Whitewater sewer rates
Mesa County commissioners on Monday set the monthly sewer rates and sewer tap fees for landowners who want to hook into the soon-to-be-completed line that will provide service to Whitewater.
Under resolutions approved by the board, the residential rate will be $27.04 a month and the tap fee will be $8,220.
Of those amounts, $22.04 and $3,720 will go to the Clifton Sanitation District, which will treat wastewater from Whitewater. The balance of those fees will go to the Whitewater Public Improvement District, which will use the money to pay off the cost of building the sewer line.
County officials have been working for more than a year on the project, which entails a lift station off Coffman Road in Whitewater and a sewer line to the Clifton Sanitation District treatment plant at 3217 D Road.
The project is expected to be completed by the end of the summer.
County planners project that, at full build-out, Whitewater could have 7,500 new homes and nearly 20,000 residents.
In other business, commissioners awarded a $884,700 contract to Mountain Valley Contracting of Grand Junction for the fourth phase of the five-phase 33 Road improvement project.
