Craig police officer terminated following arrest

CRAIG — A Craig police officer has been terminated following his arrest in Grand Junction on suspicion of disorderly conduct and disrupting government operations.

According to a Mesa County summons, officer Eric Montes Montes pushed a woman and insisted on sleeping in his vehicle while under the influence of alcohol even though officers asked him to stay in a hotel earlier this month.

According to the Craig Daily Press, the police department said Monday that Montes no longer works for the department.

Montes could not be reached for comment on Tuesday.
