Crews searching for local woman missing from campsite

Mesa County Search and Rescue crews are searching this evening for a 26-year-old Mesa County woman who went missing from her campsite.

The woman, who wasn’t identified, and her husband were camping in the Knowles Canyon Overlook area along the Colorado River near the Utah state line when the woman wandered away from their campsite late Thursday night, sheriff’s spokeswoman Lisa McCammon said.

Search and Rescue crews headed to the area after the woman’s husband called to report her missing today.

McCammon said officials are using a boat, an airplane, all-terrain vehicles and ground and technical rescue teams in the search.
