Crews to build more lines at fire near Fraser

DENVER — A 530-acre wildfire burning near Fraser is now 30 percent contained.

Firefighters plan to build more containment lines around the blaze today as helicopters continue to drop water on the fire.

The fire, less than a square mile, is burning on public land and is about two miles away from homes. Residents were told to be prepared to leave after the fire was first reported Sunday but no evacuations have been needed.

It’s one of the first major fires in the state to break out in an area where large stands of trees have been killed by pine beetles.
