De La Rosa headed to GJ

Colorado Rockies starter Jorge De La Rosa, who had Tommy John surgery on his left elbow 15 months ago, will get a rehab assignment with the Grand Junction Rockies.

Jay Alves, the Rockies’ vice president of communications and public relations, confirmed to The Daily Sentinel that De La Rosa is scheduled to pitch Wednesday at Suplizio Field when the Grand Junction Rockies play Ogden.

De La Rosa threw 45 pitches to live batters Saturday at Coors Field. Depending on how his rehab assignment with the GJ Rockies goes, he could go to a higher-level team as he works his way back to the major leagues.
