Death on Orchard Mesa ruled homicide; cops looking for Jeep

Authorities are looking for a Jeep Cherokee believed to have been driven by a man who was found dead Monday on Orchard Mesa in what’s been ruled a homicide.

The wanted vehicle is a 1999 4-door, dark blue Jeep Cherokee, the Mesa County Sheriff’s Department said in a news release.

Authorities on Monday were asking for the public’s help identifying a Hispanic man found dead in a wooded area around B 1/2 and 29 3/4 roads at 11:30 a.m. The man was described as 25 to 35, 5 feet, 5 inches to 5 feet, 6 inches tall and weighing about 180 pounds. He had brown hair and brown eyes. The case didn’t match any reported missing persons in Mesa County.

The man’s death was ruled homicide after an autopsy today by the Mesa County coroner, today’s release said.
