Delays expected on eastbound I-70 this weekend

Drivers heading eastbound on Interstate 70 either Saturday or Sunday should allow for extra time in anticipation of increased traffic to Denver for the AFC Championship game.

The Colorado Department of Transportation issued a press release this afternoon, telling drivers to brace for delays and slower travel times because of increased traffic, particularly between Frisco and Idaho Springs.

With Monday — Martin Luther King, Jr., Day — being a holiday, people should anticipate heavy traffic in both directions on that day, as well.

Drivers can visit cotrip.org or call 511 for updates on current road and traffic conditions.

Game time between the Denver Broncos and New England Patriots is 1 p.m. Sunday.
