Developer scaling back Minturn ski resort plans
MINTURN — The company developing a private ski resort in Minturn has scaled back the original developer’s plans in response to the recession and concerns about how much water it would use.
Canada-based Crave Real Estate removed Ginn Co.‘s plans for a golf course and hotel, and it is reducing the number of planned ski lifts.
Several residents say they’re relieved to see plans for Battle Mountain shrink, but they’re waiting to see if Crave Real Estate will still deliver $180 million worth of public improvements like sidewalks and a bike path that the original developer Ginn Co. had pledged the town.
Crave spokesman Cliff Thompson says the improvements were contingent on final approval of the project, whose plans are now being revised.
