DIA airlines restart slowly after Hurricane Sandy

DENVER — Airlines at Denver International Airport are waiting to see which airports will reopen after Hurricane Sandy ravaged the East Coast.

Airport officials say two major international airports in New York and one in New Jersey are slowly restarting operations and not all of the airlines have reported their cancellations Wednesday to East Coast destinations.

Airlines expected to have 35 planes on standby Tuesday night.

Hurricane Sandy canceled thousands of flights across the country over the past three days. About 110 flights were canceled through Denver on Tuesday, about the same as were scratched on Monday.
