DMV computers back online

The state’s motor vehicle computers are up and running, at least for now.

For the second time in as many months, the system that processes vehicle registrations and titles had been down for two weeks.

It came back up late Friday, but Mesa County Clerk Sheila Reiner didn’t want to notify anyone until today for fear it would go down again over the weekend.

It didn’t, she said.

While motorists were able to get their vehicle registrations during those two weeks, the downed system meant anyone who needed a vehicle title had to wait until the state’s computers were working because they didn’t have the ability to print them.
