Dog dies in early morning fire in Clifton

Firefighters answered a call this morning around 8:30 a.m. at 3207 Rood Circle West, finding a smoky fire contained to a kitchen on the second floor.

Crews quickly knocked down the fire, which may have started in the evaporative cooler on the home’s roof, according to officials with the Clifton Fire Department,

No people were injured, but fire officials said a Labrador dog died, likely due to smoke inhalation.

Damages are estimated at around $50,000, and the fire’s cause is still under investigation.
