Dominguez top player in region
Mesa State College guard Michael Dominguez has been selected the Daktronicks Central Region player of the year.
Dominguez, a 6-foot-3 senior from Santa Fe, N.M., averages 21 points a game for the Mavericks and scored in double figures in all but one game this season. He’s also second on the team in assists with 95. Dominguez and the Mavericks (22-5) leave Thursday for the NCAA Division II Central Regional tournament in Mankato, Minn.
As the regional player of the year and a first-team all-region player, Dominguez will be nominated for national player-of-the-year and All-America honors.
