Dry, windy conditions spark red flag warning

Hot and potentially windy conditions have western Colorado and eastern Utah under a red flag warning late into this evening.

The warning from the National Weather Service in Grand Junction is in effect from noon to 9 p.m., as gusty winds, low humidity and dry fuels have created ripe wildfire conditions.

Grand Junction’s high temperature is expected to reach 95 degrees today, and winds could kick up as high as 40 mph, according to the Weather Service.

The forecast calls for hot and dry conditions, with little or no chance of rain, for at least the next week.
