DUI suspect caught after fleeing wreck
A suspected drunken driver from Grand Junction was arrested late Tuesday night after he crashed a vehicle into a Grand Junction home while eluding authorities, then fled, the Colorado State Patrol said.
A judge on Wednesday advised Brice Allen Sauer, 30, 3018 Market Way, he could face a felony charge of vehicular eluding and misdemeanor charges of driving under the influence and driving under restraint and multiple traffic violations. Sauer is being held on $60,000 bond.
A trooper attempted to stop a 2003 BMW X5 driven by Sauer around 10:45 p.m. on 28 Road near North Avenue. Instead of being pulled over, the vehicle was driven into a nearby neighborhood, where it veered into the front porch of a home at 24th Street and Ouray Avenue. Sauer fled but was apprehended by Grand Junction police a short time later at 22nd Street and Grand Avenue, the State Patrol said.
Mesa County Chief Deputy District Attorney Richard Brown told County Judge Bruce Raaum that Sauer has two prior felony convictions, a pending misdemeanor case and is on probation for a DUI.
