Durango puts medical marijuana licenses on hold

DURANGO — The Durango City Council has put a 60-day hold on new business licenses for medical marijuana dispensaries and production facilities.

The council approved the moratorium last week to give the city time to deal with regulatory issues that have risen over the last three years.

According to the Durango Herald, city officials are worried the city is not collecting the right amount of sales tax. Officials are also worried fees and fines are not covering the costs of regulating marijuana.
