Early voting in Colo. nears 1M ballots
DENVER — Nearly 1 million Colorado voters have already cast their ballots, with Republicans voting in larger numbers than Democrats.
Colorado elections officials had collected more than 924,000 ballots by this afternoon.
As they have throughout the early voting period, Republicans maintained an advantage in ballots cast over Democrats. Republicans had turned about 380,000 ballots, while Democrats had turned in about 327,000. Both parties were voting in far heavier numbers than unaffiliated voters, with just about 212,000 independent ballots turned in.
Elections officials say most votes in Colorado will be cast before Tuesday, either through mail-in ballots or in person at early polling locations.
