Elk Creek Minewill be closed temporarily, the owner of the mine said today.,
Oxbow Mining LL, which opened the mine in 2001, said it was unable to deal with a mine fire that forced it to abandon its longwall and other equipment.
“We are idling the mine until we are able to install a replacement longwall and other equipment,” said Oxbow President Mike Ludlow. “We are working on the engineering and procurement of a replacement longwall and other equipment as quickly as possible.”
