Errors doom Bulldogs in loss to Windsor
Palisade made it to the Class 4A District 2 tournament final Sunday, but that was it.
The Bulldogs (18-3) were plagued by an uncharacteristic four errors in an 8-3 loss to Windsor at Evergreen High School.
The Wizards (13-8) advance to the Class 4A double-elimination state tournament starting this weekend.
Windsor took advantage of two errors and a hit batter to score six runs in the second inning for a 6-0 lead.
Windsor starter Corey Tokunaga-Reichert limited Palisade to three runs on seven hits in 5 2/3 innings for the victory.
Palisade starter Tate Herland allowed eight runs (three earned) on nine hits and struck out seven in six innings.
Herland hit a solo home run in the bottom of the second and drove in a run in the sixth. He was 2 for 3 with two RBI, but it wasn’t enough.
Palisade, the No. 9 seed, defeated Lewis-Palmer 5-3 in the district semifinals.
Kameron Pfaff struck out 10 batters in the victory. Caden Woods hit two home runs and drove in four.
No. 25 seed Windsor advanced with a 10-9 victory over No. 8 seed and district host Evergreen in the other district semifinal.
