Explosion rocks Fort Collins apartment

FORT COLLINS — Authorities in Fort Collins are trying to figure out why an explosion inside an apartment blew a refrigerator to pieces and destroyed the unit’s kitchen.

The Northern Colorado Bomb Squad was called in several hours after the explosion Monday night. Police said no explosives were found by the bomb squad, but declined to speculate on what caused the explosion that neighbors felt more than 100 feet away and inside their own apartments.

According to the Fort Collins Coloradoan, firefighters found no one inside the apartment and no evidence of a fire.
