Early morning fire damages Orchard Mesa home

The Grand Junction Fire Department said an early morning fire resulted in roughly $150,000 damage to a home and the cause was still under investigation.

Firefighters reported heavy smoke showing from the front of a home at 2931 Lyle Drive, which was called in at 2:48 a.m. Three people were inside at the time and they were awakened by a loud crash and the smell of smoke, fire officials said.

All escaped without injury, although one firefighter suffered minor injuries after a section of ceiling collapsed while fighting the blaze.
