Fire damages vacant house overnight

Six units from the Grand Junction Fire Department were dispatched to a vacant house at 549 Normandy Way overnight.

Heavy smoke and heat were coming from the living room and kitchen areas according to a press release from Acting Battalion Chief Chris McCoy.  Crews were able to put out the fire quickly. The house was being remodeled and was vacant. No one was injured. The house received an estimated $50,000 in damages. The fire is under investigation.
