Fire destroys Colo mortuary; no injuries reported

LONGMONT — Authorities say a fire destroyed a mortuary and crematorium in Longmont, but no injuries were reported.

The Longmont Times-call reports the fire was spotted early Tuesday. The cause is under investigation.

Police Cmdr. Jeff Satur (SA-tur) says six bodies were in the mortuary awaiting burial. Firefighters removed one body in a casket but have not been able to retrieve the others. Satur says mortuary officials are trying to contact the families of the deceased.

Firefighters had not yet entered the building Tuesday.

Longmont is about 35 miles north of Denver.
