Firefighters battle blaze at Montrose lumber facility

Two engines with the Montrose Fire Protection District were dispatched to the scene of a fire earlier today at Ray Lumber west of downtown Montrose.

Fire officials said that the operator of the lumber facility at 13758 6900 Road was doing some controlled burning, but the flames spread to wood at the lumber yard.

The fire has been contained and crews are in mop-up mode now, officials said.
