Firm cited for tampering with Aspen’s water supply

ASPEN — A Carbondale construction company has been cited for cutting into the city of Aspen’s water supply without permission, potentially compromising water quality.

Savage Excavation received an 18-month suspended sentence on Wednesday in municipal court.

According to the Aspen Daily News, a property manager hired the company to install a new fire hydrant to protect three homes, and the city water supply was improperly used to help provide water.

A company official has apologized and paid a $150 fee for court costs.
