Five-plus inches of snow fall in Grand Junction

The snows associated with this latest blast of wintry weather are continuing through this morning, but weather-watchers said that more than five inches of snow has fallen on Grand Junction within the last 24 hours.

The National Weather Service recorded 5.3 inches of snow over that time period. They further report that a station near Glade Park recorded 7 inches of snow, and around 6 inches in both Mesa and Silt.

Powderhorn Mountain Resort on Grand Mesa reported 10 inches of fresh snow for skiers and riders Friday morning.

The snows that began Thursday also brought a record amount of precipitation to Grand Junction for the day — .46 inches of rainfall and 5 inches of snow were both records for Jan. 30.
